Part 3: Mazoku & Birthday Parties
At the restaurant, it was minor chaos.
By the time Filia, Xelloss, and Val arrived at the restuarant, everybody else was there waiting and had placed their orders. They quickly found their seats -- Val sat to Sakura's right, between her and Zelgadiss, forcing Xelloss and Filia sit beside each other -- and ordered their own meals.
"...and L-sama will send them a baby," Sakura said to Gourry, who was sitting to her left.
"I thought babies came from storks..."
"And we can go out on a romantic moonlit stroll tonight, Ame-chan..."
"Who are you and what have you done with real Zelgadiss-san?"
Gin and Kin were fighting as usual, this time over whose silverware was whom's. Val watched in fascination, as this was a new fight for the pair.
"So, Filia, are you ever going to invite me into your house?"
"Why, Xelloss? Can't you invite yourself inside sometime?"
"FOOD!" Lina chanted, banging her silverware in perfect time.
"Help! Crazy fat lady!" a waiter who had been carrying an overloaded tray towards the table said suddenly.
There was dead silence. Then, somebody dropped some silverware. As it hit the floor with a ting, Lina cast a spell. "DIL BRAND!" As the unfortunate waiter flew off into the wild black-and-blue yonder, Lina went teary-eyed as she realized that she had just blasted the food, too.
"...pregnancy has not improved Lina's temper," Amelia said.
There was mute silence, as everybody, aside from Lina, agreed.
Eventually, their food was brought to the table. Most of it was promptly eaten by Lina.
The rest counted themselves lucky to have managed to save anything from the minurature black hole.
[Missing scene(s): The party after returning to the house. Xelloss announces his intention to stay there that night, causeing problems for Filia who was planning on putting everybody up at her house...]
Filia sighed. It wouldn't be polite -- no less politic -- to send Lina and Gourry to an inn, but with Xelloss wanting to spend the night in *her* house...
Sakura coughed, drawing everyone's attention to her. "It wouldn't be that much trouble for them to stay at our home. Given Okaasan's condition, she'd not notice it if the next war between the dragons and mazoku started up in our living room..."
Xelloss looked at Sakura strangely. Only one thing he could think of could cause somebody to be *that* oblivious. "She's dead?"
"No...just very disconnected from reality."
Xelloss considered what little he had been told about Deep Sea Dolphin by his mistress, and nodded. That would do it just as well as being dead. "What kind of disconnected?"
"She thinks she's the Lord of Nightmares and her room's the Sea of Chaos."
"...she's stark raving mad."
"She's my Okaasan."
